Hi Skolars!
This post will cover why I believe essay help for low income students in Boston is important (note: I think it's important everywhere, globally and domestically), but for the purposes of the focus of this site i.e. targeting low income students in the area, we'll focus on Boston. Below is a graph of the percentage of high school graduates enrolled in a 2 or 4yr college, by income level (provided by the Pew Research Center, read full article here).

As you can see, although there has been a steady decrease in enrollment, the disheartening statistic still remains that only half of low income high school graduates are enrolled in college. Obviously there are a ton of factors that play into college enrollment and completion. But for the student, working hard in school, with college aspirations, there's no reason why being low income should deter him/her from enrolling in college. The challenges of coming from a low income family are myriad, and should not be overlooked. That's the gap where I'd like to focus, and decrease. I think the essay is one part of an entire college application, but I truly believe that it plays a very important part. It gives the low income student the opportunity to share his/her story, with the power of his/life perspective, in a meaningful way. It's the one piece of the application that isn't about numbers (which only gives admissions officers a snapshot of what the student can offer.)
These are the reasons why essay help for low income students in Boston is important. Or anywhere else in the world.
To close this post, I'd like to give a shout out to my own high school Alma Mater - whose students are largely from low income families, but the majority of whom (94%) enroll in college. Thank you for all of the opportunities you've given many of us!
